Sixty Cougars Earn CCAA All-Academic Honors

SAN RAMON, Calif. The Cal State San Marcos Department of Athletics had 60 student-athletes named to their respective 2015-16 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic teams, the conference announced Friday. The Cougar women's track & field program led the way for CSUSM with a total of 14 earning the award, including seven dual sport performers who also competed in cross country. Women's soccer followed close behind with 13 honorees. UC San Diego has led the way for the CCAA institutions, placing 87 individuals on the 2015-16 list. The Cougars ranked fifth behind Sonoma State (70), Cal Poly Pomona (64) and Cal State Monterey Bay (61). To qualify for CCAA All-Academic accolades, student-athletes must be a varsity letterwinner who competed in one of the 12 CCAA-sponsored sports (men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's golf, men's and women's outdoor track and field, baseball and softball) during the 2015-16 academic year. Student-athletes must also have achieved a grade-point average of 3.40 or higher in a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units completed. For more, visit CSUSMCoguars.com.
