CSUSM Throwers Make History on Day One of CCAA Championships

LOS ANGELES Javelin throwers took center stage for the Cougars in the debut appearance for the Cal State San Marcos track & field teams in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Track and Field Championships at Cal State L.A. on Thursday. The program, in its 17th season, is participating in NCAA Division II postseason conference competition for the first time. Domenique Barnes started the competition off for the Cougars in the women's javelin, closing out a solid freshman campaign with a throw of 31.81m that was the 14th-longest in the competition In the men's javelin, Patrick Holstrom led the Cougars with a throw of 47.68m that was the 10th-longest in the contest. Josh Maffei threw 45.71m, his second-best of the season and the 13th-longest throw on the day. For more, visit CSUSMCougars.com.
