Comments

IRVINE, Calif. Charlotte Kuzminsky and Natalie Rodriguez set new CSUSM records at the adidas/Steve Scott Invitational on Saturday, the final regular season competition of the year for the Cal State San Marcos women's and men's track & field teams. Kuzminsky, Rodriguez and Elizabeth Buckle posted NCAA Division II provisional qualifiers on the second day of competition at the namesake event for CSUSM head coach Steve Scott. With an 800m personal-best of 2:11.25, Kuzminsky outdid the 11-year-old CSUSM record by 1.24 seconds (Bonghaih Shey, 2005). The senior from San Diego also holds school records in the outdoor 1000m (2:55.97, 2015), indoor 1000m (2:53.98, 2015) and is part of the record-holding indoor and outdoor DMR and 4x800m relay squads. The 800m mark is the fifth-fastest in the CCAA this year. Rodriguez crossed the line at 4:31.75 to break the previous record by 2.15 seconds (Heidi Swanson, 2014) and best her previous PR by four seconds. The time is the fifth-fastest in the CCAA this year. Rodriguez also holds a school record as a member of the outdoor 4x800m relay squad and has now achieved the NCAA DII provisional qualifier in two events (5000m). Four Cougars have registered NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks and 42 student-athletes have achieved California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championship qualifiers.
