[Men's Track & Field] Andjelic nails down All-American finish

    GULF SHORES, Ala. – University of Rio Grande freshman Nikola Andjelic established a new personal and school record in the Men's Decathlon with 6,462 points and posted an All-American finish for the RedStorm on Friday in the 65th Annual NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
    Andjelic, who was in eighth place after the completion of the first five events in the 10-event competition, finished in sixth place after taking third place in the javelin (49.74m), fifth place in the pole vault (4.05m), sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.27), ninth place in the 1,500-meter run (4:48.93) and 11th in the discus throw (32.15m) in Friday's second day of competition.
    The top eight finishers in each event receive All-American honors.
    Andjelic, a native of Split, Croatia, eclipsed his previous high-point mark of 6,424 points set earlier this year.
