Comments

ADRIAN, MI -- Despite the high winds on Saturday at Siena Heights University's Don Kleinow Memorial, the Lady Cougars finished sixth of 13 teams at the event.

SAU was led by Danae Dracht on the track running in her first 10K event ever, clocking a time of 39:15.81for first place by over two minutes in front of the second place finisher.  Dracht's time places her fifth on the Cougar's top ten list.

In the steeplechase, all three Spring Arbor University runners; Kaytlynne Kerwin, Elizabeth Brand, and Alley Comden all placed in scoring positions, fourth, sixth, and seventh, respectively.

On the sprint side of the event, the 4x100m Relay team of Ellie Reynolds, Andrea Finkbeiner, Jessica Czinder, and Jessica Lee were able to finish fifth with a time of 51.38.

The Cougars 4x400m Relay team of Rebecca Donker, Amanda Curtis, Mary Lehman, and Andrea Bogert finished sixth clocking 4:19.34.

Freshman Nikkie Redman placed fourth in the 400m Hurdles with a personal best time of 1:10.53, a very solid time despite the heavy winds.

Vanessa Rogers continues to find success in the Pole Vault and placed third with a jump of 10'11.75

In the Triple Jump, Kelly Tripp placed third with a leap of 34'4.75 for a season best for her.  Liz Brueggeman tripled jumped for the first time in a meet and walked away successfully placing her seventh on Spring Arbor's top ten list.

The newest addition to the SAU Track & Field squad and making the largest improvement are the throws crew of Grace Salle, KaLeigh Beard, Rebecca Stefaniak, Andrea Ream, and Daisy Patterson.  Stefaniak lead the way placing fifth in the Javelin with 92'7, but the event had to be cancelled because of darkness.

"We had a very solid day with personal bests in a lot of events, even though the winds were strong," said. Head Coach, Mark Miller.

The Cougars compete next at Manchester University in IN on Thursday, April 17, and after that, the Crossroads League Championships on April 25-26 at Marion University in Indianapolis.
