(Allendale, Mich.) The Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State, as always provided two days of great competition. The Cornerstone women joined in with two school records, eight NAIA national qualifying performances, and thirteen personal bests.

Friday evening, Julie Oosterhouse broke her school record in the 800 meters set one year ago at this meet. Running in the elite invitational section, the junior from Byron Center kicked a 30.9 second last 200 meters to finish second in her heat. Her time of 2:12.05 improved on the 2:12.95 from 2012 and is the fastest 800 meters in the NAIA this season.

Saturday, freshman Tess Odegard took down the school record in the high jump and moved up to second in the NAIA.  After missing twice at 5' 6" Odegard added more speed on her final attempt and cleared a personal best and CU freshman record.  Maintaining her speed at the next height, Tess sailed over 5' 8" on her first attempt to win the event and add an inch to the CU record.  The old mark of 5' 7" was set in 2005 by Shannon Burmaster and again in 2008 by Danielle Rowe.  In the triple jump, Lindsay Lipa had two PR jumps, finishing second at 37' 5 ¾".

In Friday's elite invitational section of the 60 meter hurdles, Anita Souza finished fourth in her heat. Her time of 8.84 put her under the NAIA qualifying time for the fifth time this season.  Brittany Green improved her 60 meter hurdle best to finish second during Saturday's open section, running 9.19.

In the distance events, CallyAnne Wyma took ten seconds off her best time in the 5,000 meters running 18:34.26 and Sydney Tremaine ran a PR, 19:15.55. Kaitlyn Bronkema won her heat in the 600 meters, leading the entire way, finishing with a new best 1:39.31. She also improved her 800 meter best to 2:23.72. The distance medley relay of Trinity Hulst, Souza, Cathy Coryell and Oosterhouse took nine seconds off the season best, running 12:21.61 to finish fourteenth and move up to ninth on the NAIA list.

The Golden Eagles finished the meet improving their place on the nationals list in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Lyndee Sayers, Oosterhouse, Souza and Larissa Hampton combined for 3:56.56 finishing seventh. CU's "B" team of Lipa, Bronkema, Rachel Skinner and Odegard finished twelfth in 4:03.22. Their time bettered the NAIA provisional standard, the first time in program history the Golden Eagles have had two national qualifying relay performances in the same race.

Saturday, February 22 the team travels to Trine University in Angola, IN for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship.
