[Women's Cross Country] Lady Bulldogs finish 5th in Sand Shark

Comments

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Hardeeville, South Carolina this past weekend to compete in the 8th annual Sand Shark Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs placed fifth among 35 teams in the 5k with 159 points, and a team average of 18:49.  Robbiccaa Williams led the women with a 15th place finish in 18:21.  Hannah Rhodes (18th) and Leah Chance (21) were not far behind with their times of 18:26 and 18:36, as the top three women came in under 19 minutes.  Sierra Knighten placed 51st with a 19:21, Bre Snow placed 54th with a 19:22, Karlie Yinger placed 69th in 19:36, and Stephanie Bruner closed out the top seven at 82nd place in 19:49.

"We were very proud of how our women performed at Sand Shark this weekend", said Coach Jakubowski.  "This course is nice and flat, which means all the teams there will be racing quick times.  We now have a consistent 7 women who place under 20 minutes in a 5k, three of which were under 19 this weekend.  It really is a testament to how committed our women are to their racing."

After this meet, the team will now focus on conference and the national championships beyond that on November 22nd.  The Bulldogs will be racing in the conference meet at Fort Bluff in Dayton, Tennessee on November 8th.
