[Men's & Women's Cross Country] Women's Cross Country Places 6th, Men Finish in 17th - ...

(Lansing, MI) - The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed at the Lansing Invitational this Friday squaring off against a competitive field with sloppy, wet running conditions.  The women finished in 6th place out of 19 teams while the men finished in 17th out of 20 teams.  

 

Leading the way for the Lady Cards was freshman Stephanie Johnston (FR/Brantford, ON ) who placed 15th with a time of 19:53.  She was followed closely by sophomore Brie Schofield (SO/Belleville, MI) who finished in 23rd with a time of 20:07.  Adrianna Beltran (JR/Canton, MI) was the next Cardinal to cross the finish line finishing in 30th with a time of 20:18.  All three runners joined elite company as their times placed them in the Top 10 All-Time in the Concordia record books.

 

Closing out the scoring was freshman Courtney Dykema (FR/Birch Run, MI) and senior Delisia Morris (SR/Ypsilanti, MI). Dykema narrowly missed joining the Top 10 board by under 10 seconds. Out of 7 teams in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference competing in the meet Concordia was the third WHAC Team to finish.

 

Leading the way for the men was senior Alex Kitchin (SR/Flushing, MI) who placed 67th out of a 200 runner field. He was followed closely by junior Andrew Gardner (JR/Scotts, MI) in 77th place, which was a lifetime personal best for Gardner. Next up was sophomore Miguel Gonzalez-Feliciano (SO/Beavercreek, OH) in 81st place and closing out the scoring for the team were freshman Matthew Monroe (FR) and Grant Bowdish (FR/Clio, MI).

 

The cross country teams head to Wisconsin in 2 weeks for the biggest Invitational of the year.
