[Men's Indoor Track and Field] Viking Men Hit Two National Qualifying Marks, School Record at ...

The Vikings placed sixth of 13 teams competing for the first time in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships held in Crete, Neb. over the weekend.

The men produced two national qualifying marks and set a new school record on Saturday. Junior Nate Johnston (Carroll, Iowa) was runner-up (18.05m) and senior Hunter Donovan (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) took third (17.07m) in the weight throw; both NAIA Automatic national qualifying marks.

Track highlights included a runner-up finish by junior Clay Cory (Elkhart, Iowa) in the 600m run (1:23.25) and a new school record Cory in the 400m dash (50.53).

The Vikings next compete at the Wartburg Invitational February 20 in Waverly.
