SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 1, 2016) -- Derek Barnett (JR/Redlands, Calif.) led the way for the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) cross-country team in the Saints season opener this morning. In the Alamo City Opener, Barnett finished first among 30 runners from meet host Trinity University and Northwest Vista College.

Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, "I felt like our top three men looked fine. Obviously, Derek won the meet, so there are no complaints there. He also set a new school record for a cross country 5k. That said, as well as he did I know he as well as the other two that ran well would rather have the whole team run well."
