[Women's Track & Field] Petty named All-American in Heptathlon

    GULF SHORES, Ala. – University of Rio Grande sophomore Tyanna Petty set a school- and personal-record with 4,739 points and earned All-American status by finishing fourth in the women's heptathlon at the 36th Annual NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Friday, at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
    Petty, a native of Somerset, Ohio, eclipsed the previous school- and personal-best mark of 4,441 points she set earlier this season by completing the event with second-place finishes in the long jump (5.23m) and 800-meter run (2:19.54) and a 15th-place showing in the javelin throw (25.04m).
