[Cross Country] Cassie Hansen Named New Cross Country Coach

Comments

SANTEE, Calif. – The SDC athletic department is excited to announce the hiring of Cassie Hansen as the new men's and women's cross country coach.

Hansen comes to SDC after being the assistant cross country and track and field coach for Cuyamaca College from June 2013 to November 2014. Hansen is also a First Grade Teacher at Literacy First Charter.

"I am very excited for this new adventure with SDC," Hansen said. "I have always wanted to coach collegiate athletes and am stoked to have the chance to do that in a Christian school setting."

Hansen graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Spanish.

She earned athlete of the week twice in her career as a track and field star. Her first athlete of the week award was in May 2006 and second in March 2007.  Hansen was also named to the Big West All-Academic Team.

"I am most looking forward to getting to know my cross country team, helping them to become stronger runners and helping them build their characters," Hansen said. "I'm looking forward to seeing their progress throughout the season and am honored that I get to be a part of it!  What an awesome opportunity!"

Hansen will assume the head coaching job immediately. Interested athletes may contact her at 619-201-8767 or email at [email protected]
