Rocklin, Calif. – William Jessup University and Scandia Family Fun Center are partnering together for the Chasing the Sun,     Heidi Run.  The 5k run and One Mile fun run for kids honors the life of Rocklin High School runner Heidi Greenwood and will take place on the William Jessup University Cross Country Course. 

 Greenwood was an incredible athlete and inspiring young women.  She was known for her love of others, especially children.  She had a wonderful smile that she so easily shared. On March 22, 2013 she unexpectedly passed away from a blood clot  that she was unaware of having.  The running community in Rocklin was shocked and saddened by her passing and her family  wants Heidi to live on in memory by supporting them. The proceeds from the Chasing the Sun, Heidi Run will all go to scholarships at Rocklin High and Whitney High Cross Country Graduates.  The Cross Country runners have been a great support to her family as they adorn themselves in purple at each race, whether it be a ribbon, socks, or an article of clothing.  Heidi loved running and loved people and those were her passions in life.

"We are extremely excited to be a part of this great event that honors the special life of Heidi Greenwood," stated WJU head cross country/track and field coach Parker Daniells.  "The running community is like family and Heidi was a testament to that family in how she treated everyone.   The Warrior cross country and track teams look forward to serving at the event in her honor."
