[Women's Outdoor Track & Field] Wiesner Takes 38th Place in the 2014 NAIA National ...[Track & Field] Warriors Close Out Season At Brutus Hamilton Invite at Cal

Gulf Shores, Alabama – After graduating last Saturday, senior Hannah Wiesner had one more assignment to complete.  Coach Parker Daniells and Wiesner headed to the 2014 NAIA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Berkeley, Calif. – The Warriors track and field team finished out the season on wet Friday and Saturday at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on the campus of UC Berkeley.

In his final career meet, senior Wayne Smith led the Warriors in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:15.66.  Fellow senior David Cummings was right behind Smith with a time of 4:19.14.  Sophomore Patrick Johnson ran a 4:23.00. 

In the 5000 meters, sophomore Michael Basuini finished with a time of 15:47.51.  Junior Jonathan Hernandez ran a 16:29.39.

Freshmen Craig Elliot and Justin Whelpley performed well in the 800 meters.  Elliot ran a 2:02.71 while Whelpley finished in 2:03.6. 

In the sprints, senior Julius Smith, Micah Hayes and Sterling Shells had a solid showing in their final meet.  Smith ran a 12.55 in the 100 meters.  Shells topped Hayes in the 200 meters with a time of 23.58.  Hayes ran 23.96.  Hayes was the top Warriors runner in the 400 meter with a time of 53.44.  Shells 400 meter time was 55.36.

Sophomore Kenneth Parker and Junior Nate Ellis led the Warriors in the long jump as they tied with a jump of 5.90.  Freshman Anthony Edwards finished with a jump of 5.77. Parker led the Warriors in the triple jump with a jump of 12.58 while Ellis longest jump was 12.50 meters. 

In the shot put, freshman Roman Zazhitskiy's top throw was 10.72 meters. 

On the Women's, senior Dallas Butterfield led the Warriors in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:27.97, which placed her in 9th place.  Sophomore Allyson Richmond was right behind Richmond with a time of 5:30.92.  Justine Kruger ran a 5:47.94, while senior Megan Crutchfield finished out her career with a time of 6:06.78.  Stephanie Arzon ran the 5000 meter and finished with a time of 21:00.06.

Senior Christina Malek closed out her career with a time of 2:49.47 in the 800 meters.  Junior Sara Martinez was right behind Malek with a time of 2:51.93.

In the sprints, freshman Lauren Lee topped the Warriors in the 100 and 200 meters with a time of 13.50 and 28.81, respectively.  Senior Emily Fernandez finished her career in the 100 and 200 meters with times of 13.93 and 14.76, respectively. 

In the shot put, freshman Jennah Richmond and Shannon Postle had throws of 9.71 and 9.65, respectively. 

While the Warriors are losing many solid athletes to graduation, they have many young athletes ready to take the program to the next level as they Warriors will compete in the Golden State Athletic Conference next year.
