[Indoor Track & Field] Track & Field Performs well in their First Out of State Meet of ...

(Marion, IN) - Treacherous weather and road conditions didn't stop the Concordia men's and women's Track and Field Teams from performing well in their first out of state meet of the year.

Highlights of the meet include some impressive distances by the young throwers. Freshman Madison Lutzke (Benzie, MI/Benzie Central HS) threw 10.49m, setting a new school record in the weight throw.  This comes just one week after Lutzke set a new school record in the shot put in her first ever indoor meet as a Cardinal.

Fellow freshman, Austin Sloan (Southgate, MI), made it out of the first flight and into the finals with a throw of 12.21m in the shot put event finishing in 9th place.  Rounding out the top throwing performances was sophomore Adam Koch (Fort Wayne, IN) who threw for a new personal best of 11.77 meters to make the finals in the weight throw.  Koch eventually finished in 

For the runners freshmen Julie Szuba (Livonia, MI/Livonia Churchill HS) placed 8th out of 17 in the 800m with a time of 2:37.22.  The men's 4x200 of Caleb Mims (Southfield, MI/Southfield Lathrup HS), Zoltowski, Monton, and Brandon Crayne (Riverview, MI/Monroe County CC), placed 3rd with a time of 1:36.04.  In the 600m two Cardinals placed in the Top 10.  Charlie Jones (Jackson, MI/Jackson Christian HS) placed 6th running a time of 1:29.40 and Max Monton (Pentwater, MI/Mason County Central HS) placed 8th with a time of 1:32.18.  Rounding out the highlights for the two teams was Zack Zoltowski (Livonia, MI/Livonia Churchill HS) who place 4th overall in men's 60m high hurdles.

The Cardinals will be back in action February 7th when they head to Hillsdale, MI to compete in the Hillsdale Charger Classic.
